Who this is for

Who we evaluate for knee stem cell therapy

You might recognise yourself here

  • Knee osteoarthritis (mild to moderate is where most research has focused).
  • Degenerative meniscus wear without locking or a surgical tear.
  • Cortisone that helped, then helped less.
  • Pain on stairs, rising from a chair or after sitting still.

What we look at first

For knees we review any X-ray or MRI from the last two years, examine alignment, swelling and range of motion, and look at the muscles around the joint. Bone-on-bone disease with deformity, a locked knee or a surgical meniscus tear usually belongs with a surgeon, and we will say so.

What it is

The stem cell preparation we use

“Stem cell therapy” is used loosely online. Here is exactly what it means at REVĪV. Our stem cell therapy uses a perinatal tissue allograft: tissue donated with consent after delivery and processed by a U.S. tissue establishment. That preparation contains cell populations, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), along with the structural proteins and signalling molecules that come with the tissue.

It is an allograft, meaning donated tissue rather than your own cells. That means no bone-marrow draw from your hip and no liposuction to harvest fat. It is a single in-home procedure, placed under ultrasound guidance when needed.

Under Florida law you receive the state’s stem cell therapy notice and written informed consent before any treatment, and you can ask to see the supplier’s accreditation and the lot’s viability report. How we follow Florida’s stem cell rules.

How it works

From first call to follow-up, at home

  1. A free 15-minute phone call. We listen to your history and tell you honestly whether an evaluation is worth your time.
  2. An in-home physician evaluation. History, exam, your imaging and your goals, in your own living room. You receive the Florida stem cell therapy notice and written informed consent before any decision.
  3. Comprehensive blood work. Ordered before any plan is finalized, because inflammation and metabolic health shape what is reasonable to attempt.
  4. A written plan, if one makes sense. Stem cell therapy is one option. Exosomes or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may fit better, and sometimes the right answer is none of them.
  5. Your procedure, at home. Placed under ultrasound guidance when needed, with observation afterward.
  6. Scheduled follow-up. Check-ins at set intervals and a functional reassessment at about 3 months, built into the plan.
Candidacy

Who is and isn’t a candidate

Reasons we would not proceed

  • An active infection in or near the treatment area.
  • An active malignancy near the treatment site.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • A clear surgical indication. If you need a surgeon, we will tell you so.

Timing issues we work around

  • A corticosteroid injection into the same area within the past 4 weeks. We wait it out.
  • Anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) within 5 days of a procedure. These are paused beforehand.
  • Blood thinners, held or adjusted only with your prescribing physician.
What to expect

The realistic timeline

These are the intervals we plan around. They are not a promise about your result.

  • NSAIDs paused for 5 days beforehand.
  • Weight-bearing limited for roughly 48 hours afterward.
  • Range-of-motion work and physical therapy resume at about 7–10 days.
  • When change occurs it is usually gradual, most often noticed around weeks 3–6.
  • Functional reassessment at 3 months; a second treatment is considered no earlier than 4–6 months, based on your response.
Honest by design

What the evidence does and does not show

Most published biologic research in the knee is on PRP. Studies of mesenchymal-cell and perinatal preparations in knee osteoarthritis are smaller and earlier, with mixed results.

The stem cell and other biologic therapies we use are investigational and may be provided on an off-label basis. No stem cell therapy is FDA-approved for orthopedic, pain or general use, and nobody, including us, can tell you in advance that it will work for you.

The published research is early. Much of it is laboratory and animal work, the human studies are mostly small, and some well-run trials have found no advantage over placebo. We will not quote numbers from a study and imply they are your results.

What we will do is examine you, review your imaging and blood work, and tell you plainly whether you look like a reasonable candidate. Some people leave our evaluation with a recommendation to see a surgeon instead. That is a good outcome.

What stem cell therapy costs at REVĪV

Single-area treatment starts at $2,997 for 1 mL, and some patients need only 1 mL. A complete care plan is quoted only after a physician evaluation, because the right amount depends on your imaging, your history and how many areas are involved. Patient financing is available for those who qualify. HSA and FSA cards are accepted. Insurance does not cover it.

Your first 15-minute phone call is free. The in-home physician consultation is $199, credited in full toward your care plan if you move forward. Services you have paid for and not received are 100% refundable.

Common questions

Knee stem cell therapy: questions

Can stem cell therapy replace a knee replacement?

No, and we will not describe it that way. For some people it is a reasonable step before surgery; for others surgery is the right answer. A physician decides after examining your knee.

How much is stem cell therapy for a knee in Orlando?

At REVĪV, single-area treatment starts at $2,997 for 1 mL, and some patients need only 1 mL. The $199 in-home consultation is credited toward your plan.

Is knee stem cell therapy FDA-approved?

No. No stem cell therapy is FDA-approved for knee osteoarthritis. It is investigational and offered under Florida’s stem cell law.

I had a cortisone shot recently. Can I still do this?

Yes, with a wait. We need at least four weeks after a corticosteroid injection into the same knee.
